Steel

I just picked this up the other day and have decided to keep it. It plays and sounds great, and looks to be all original, except for the keys, which I changed because the original tips had crumbled.

Serial Numbers, Cracks

As a matter of fact I believe I was the first to even turn a screw on it.A couple of questions actually,I have seen a bunch of these throughout the years but dont ever recall seeing one in this color. Does anyone else have one in this color, or ever seen one?Was Fender doing colors like this, this early ('49-'53)?Also, trying to figure out the date, exactly. The serial number is 2552, and only the first and last digits of the pot codes are visible, 3 and 9.I know its not a 'Grail' or anything, its just unusual to me, any help would be great.Marc.

It's kind of a 'grail'.the pickup's basically the same as what you'd find in a Broadcaster or early blackguard Tele. And it should sound fantastic.I've got one of these in the blue finish.yours has greened out a little more than mine, but pearloid ages differently depending on storage conditions and/or exposure to sunlight. An earlier poster mentioned seeing these in different pearloid finishes.I'm a complete lap-steel geek and have only seen these in blue and the more common yellow. What other finishes have people seen?
