I had this same issue and posted the following fix that I figured out in another recent similar topic in this Technical Support discussion thread.-'What I did was delete my save data from User/Appdata/LocalLow/spikechunsoft. Then uninstalled the game, turned off Steam Cloud sync, reinstalled the game, started it up and let it create a new save file, turned Steam Cloud sync on while in game, exited the game and let it sync to the cloud.Unforutunately this does mean you'd lose your save data and that part sucked, but not playing the game sucked even more. Hopefully there is a better fix for this so that you don't have to lose all of your data like I did trying to get it back to work.Before anyone asks, yes I did back up the original save. Copying and pasting it into the save location after taking the steps that I mentioned above, the game would start in Japanese and with all sounds set to 0 voume oddly enough. After switching it back to English and going to the edits, my stuff was still gone.' -This worked for me and I can confirm that it worked for two others (one that I guided via Steam messages who is now currently playing the game again, and another that posted in that thread).If you have save data you don't want to lose, I would probably recommend waiting on a response from Spike Chunsoft to see if there is a more effective fix that doesn't DELETE your data and render it OBSOLETE!
