Het is een aardig verhaal over een meisje dat een vriendschap sluit met een Grote Vriendelijke Reus en dan samen de wereld red van negen minder vriendelijke reuzen. Het is een fantasieverhaal dat goed geschreven is. Ik merkte dat ik, doordat het ver genoeg van de werkelijkheid afstaat, mee ging in het verhaal.

Ik snap dat dit onderdeel is van het verhaal, omdat de GVR nooit naar school is geweest, maar er waren nu en woorden die door elkaar werden gegooid en reuzentermen die niet bestaan, en soms werd dat zoveel bij elkaar gebruikt dat ik het boek minder leesbaar vond. Van mij had dat wat minder gemogen en wat beter gedoseerd. Ik zou het niet helemaal weg willen hebben, want het brengt zeker ook humor in het boek.Van mij had het boek nog wat dikker mogen zijn. Misschien iets langer de tijd nemen om de relatie met de GVR op te bouwen? Dat gaat nu redelijk gemakkelijk en snel. Ik heb het in elk geval met plezier gelezen en zou het als boek aanraden. Geen hoogvlieger, maar wel een lekker boek met een happy end!
