The JumpStart Reading Camps for Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd-3rd grade operate weekly starting on June 25 through August 10, 2018. The reading skills are taught in the morning session, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, the afternoon session is a STEAM-based project learning with a daily project and a different theme for each week. Registration can be for the half day ( morning session ) or the full day session.In preparation for entering Kindergarten, students will learn reading strategies to quickly and accurately decode long vowel words (kite, rake, rope), learn sight Words, and spelling practice for entering Kindergarten (readiness) level expectations.
Students will read words, phrases and short passages that all use the pattern defined in the Reading Code. They will study rhymes by changing the beginning letter sound to make a new word (coat, boat, goat).
